Quatrefolic®360 is a new collection of brochures dedicated to the wide range of applications of the 5-MTHF, the active folate in human health, and its advantages compared to folic acid.
The collection will offer a focus on a specific field with an overview of the market trends of folate, together with a scientific focus on the advantages of the use of the 5-MTHF, when supplemented.
The first leaflet is dedicated to “Pregnancy and Reproduction”, where the adequate requirement of women of folate is 5-10-fold higher compared to non-pregnant women.
Pregnancy and folate deficiency
It is well-known that low maternal folate status is associated with neural tube defects in their offspring. Recently, inadequate serum folate levels have been linked to a higher risk of postpartum depression. Folate deficiency can also result in homocysteine accumulation, which has negative effects on the reproductive and cardiovascular functions of the mother. It can also cause anemia or lead to various pregnancy complications and poor pregnancy outcomes. Clinical studies have shown that folate supplementation can prevent neural tube defects in infants and improve the general well-being of mothers.
Quatrefolic® delivers active folate the body can immediately use, without conversion and avoiding the accumulation of unmetabolized folic acid (UMFA). A recent clinical study showed that Quatrefolic® supplementation improved fertility outcome in 86,7% of couples carrying MTHFR polymorphisms with fertility problems lasting for at least 4 years.
Not all people know why the active form of folate (5-MTHF) should be strongly considered as a universally beneficial vitamin, independently of woman genetic patterns of the enzyme MTHFR.
