Client case study on Quatrefolic®

Folate is a form of B vitamin that is important in red blood cell formation and for healthy cell growth and function. It can be used to address various health segments, such as women’s health (fertility, pregnancy, menopause), cardiovascular health, mood, cognition, sport, and energy. In a case study, we analyzed the market situation that allowed our client, Sun Wave Pharma from Romania, to achieve the leading position in their market in the 4th year after the initial product launch with Quatrefolic® from Gnosis by Lesaffre.

Quatrefolic® is clinically validated in several categories: fertility, pregnancy, cardiovascular health, bioavailability, and safety. Women’s health and heart health categories both grew faster than the total dietary supplement average in the past 5 years in the CEE region

We have prepared a presentation with a case study and collected market data.

Key points:

  • Quatrefolic® is the active form of folate, 5-MTHF, naturally present in the body and available for its biological action
  • cardiovascular, women’s health, mood/relaxing, memory, and energy products represent almost 25% of the global dietary supplements market in 2023
  • to address women’s health issues, over 35% of women take vitamins and supplements (Euromonitor Health & Nutrition Survey, 2022)
  • the premium, clinically supported segment of products based on branded folate sources is growing globally and in the CEE region
  • Sun Wave Pharma launched 2 different supplement products with Quatrefolic® and achieved the number 1 position in their market just 4 years after the launch of their pregnancy product

With women’s health segment on the rise and the development of the advanced products segment, there is an indication of a promising market opportunity in the CEE region for clinically supported products based on branded folate sources.
