New study: KalmCold™ modulates immunity in healthy adults
In a time of greatly increased demand for effective immunity solutions, Natural Remedies is answering the call with a new study on KalmCold™, a standardized extract of Andrographis paniculata. Previous clinical research has already shown it is effective in reducing symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection and new results demonstrate an improved immune response at the cellular level.
The study was designed as a 30-day, prospective, open-label, single-arm pilot trial.
Healthy volunteers who took KalmCold™ had increased count of several immune cells with key roles in adaptive immunity: absolute lymphocytes, T cells (CD3+), and T helper cells (CD3+, CD4+).
Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-4 (IL-4) production significantly increased as well, further suggesting an immunomodulatory effect of the KalmCold™ extract.
These effects in a subset population were evident from day 7 on.

An interesting aspect of KalmCold™ is that it seems to have balancing effects on immunity and inflammation, particularly in the context of respiratory health.
commented Dr. Deepak Mundkinajeddu, Head of Research and Development at Natural Remedies for Nutraceutical Business Review.
He adds that this unique immunomodulatory effect may contribute to the efficacy of Andrographis, clinically documented in both healthy volunteers as well as subjects with the common cold.
Study provides new insight into KalmCold™’s mechanism of action
This is not the first clinical study using this branded ingredient: in 2010, KalmCold® effectively improved the symptoms of the common cold in adult volunteers1.
The two clinical studies show the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory action of KalmCold™, which helps strengthen the immune function. Backed by clinical support this A. paniculata extract brings a natural solution to help protect the body from infections.
Consumers are serious about defending their immunity, and increasingly, they’re looking for natural solutions that have the science to prove they work.
stated Abey Thomas, Assistant General Manager of Global Marketing for Natural Remedies, for Nutraceutical Business Review.
